This is a picture of my family. My great grandparents were missionaries in Ecuador. My grandpa and grandma (first row, center) were missionaries in Peru. Two of my great-aunts were missionaries to Nigeria and to India, and three of my mother’s siblings have served or are serving as missionaries in Colombia, Peru, Nigeria, and Papua New Guinea. I grew up in the States and have only been overseas once in 2011, when I went to Prague for a short-term mission trip. Earlier in that year, I began sensing the Lord’s direction toward mission work, and I am blessed that He is opening the doors for my first longer-term assignment overseas. Lord willing (and provided I receive the funding needed for Wycliffe to okay my departure), I will be leaving my home of twenty-two years in Texas this Fall to spend a year working with my aunt and uncle on various mission assignments in Papua New Guinea.
